The National Association of Federal Retirees (Federal Retirees) is Canada’s largest national advocacy organization dedicated to representing active and retired members of the federal public service, Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and federally appointed judges, as well as their spouses, partners and survivors.

To strengthen its advocacy efforts in this area, Federal Retirees is seeking an Advocacy and Policy Officer, Retirement Security to help advance its work on pension and retirement security.

Compensation: $90,000 – $97,000

Summary of the Role
Reporting to the Director of Advocacy, the Advocacy and Policy Officer, Retirement Security is responsible for conducting research to develop and recommend strategic policy positions that advance the Association’s retirement security priorities. This role involves authoring a wide range of advocacy materials, including policy briefs, letters, articles, and submissions, while supporting the development and implementation of strategic advocacy plans, campaigns, and member-focused communications. Additionally, the Officer identifies and collaborates on opportunities and events that effectively advance the Association’s positions.
In this role, you will monitor political, legislative, and social developments related to pension and retirement security, identifying emerging issues to inform policy direction and managing relevant analysis. You will support senior management through issues management communications and briefings, while also providing specialized guidance to colleagues and branches regarding member inquiries. Furthermore, as the Officer, you maintain deep, specialized knowledge of retirement security plans relevant to members to provide guidance on pension issues.
Finally, the Advocacy and Policy Officer develops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, actively engaging peers to elevate the organization’s profile and secure the adoption of advocacy positions on retirement security.
